Unexpected weather

All day weather.com has been saying rain for us.
I look out the window, and the roads are getting covered in snow, cars covered in snow....
It's really coming down now.

Temperatures in the higher elevations of southwest Virginia...
mainly at or above 2500 feet... are hovering near or just below
freezing. Some snow accumulation will be possible through the
evening... with up to 2 inches expected... with isolated higher
amounts possible. The snow may mix with or change to rain before
ending. The precipitation is expected to end around midnight.

yes we saw that - they put it up an hour after it started snowing and an inch already accumulated.

Problem with that statement....I've being the snow too, and it's accumulating, however, I'm not at or above 2500 ft....yeah. Then again, it did say mainly.

But finally a day where people can say the forecasts are wrong, lol..for some at least. (A meteorologist WKYT in Lexington, KY mentioned that he thought the models were underestimating the cold air today and that forecasts may bust, and once again, he was right..exact reason I follow their forecasts). Of course, this a day where spotters and the public, should be relaying their current weather and such to their local stations keeping them aware (might want to tell elevation too), so they can adjust..as it's been raining for others and the radar doesn't always pick up the change. It doesn't help that the conditions out of Wise, are never shown..the airport never has what's occurring...wish they would change that. Speaking of the TWC, they are usually pretty bad with forecasting anyway, haha...just wanted to throw that out there, they don't do well with local forecasting (although everyone missed today's event).
